GentleMax Pro®

GentleMax Pro®

What is the GentleMax Pro®?

GentleMax Pro® uses laser technology to remove unwanted hair, sun spots, age spots, and unwanted facial and leg veins. It removes these unwanted features by distributing a powerful but gentle burst of energy that delivers a controlled amount of therapeutic heat to the targeted areas in a safe and effective manner.

What can I expect during my laser treatment?

A treatment can be expected to last anywhere between a few minutes to an hour, depending on the problem area that is being treated and the type of condition that is being treated. The provider will deliver the laser treatment in several repeated pulses. Some patients may experience some minor discomfort with each laser pulse, which is usually described like the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. The discomfort usually resolves rapidly, but for some patients, a topical anesthetic may be used before the treatment takes place.

How many treatment sessions will I need?

The number of treatment sessions will vary from person to person, depending on the treatment they require and the condition of their skin. Hair removal treatments typically require multiple treatments, but other conditions may clear up in only one to two treatments. There are many factors that can impact the efficiency and effectiveness of the   treatments, including the severity of the condition being treated.

How do I prepare for my treatment?

The skin should be clean-shaven and thoroughly cleansed. Any lotions, oils, self-tanning products, makeup, or topical anesthetics have to be removed prior to treatment. Hair removal patients should avoid tweezing (plucking), waxing, or electrolysis six weeks before treatment. Avoid any sun exposure or tanning booth light before AND after treatment. It is important to note that if you have a history of herpes simplex virus (HSV), a prophylactic antiviral therapy may be prescribed.

What precautions should I take after treatment?

After a GentleMax Pro® treatment sun exposure should be prevented by applying sunscreen that is SPF 30 or above. Do not scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers within the first few days after a treatment.

Are there any side effects to using the GentleMax Pro®?

The most common types of side effects include redness or swelling to the treated area but this typically resolves within a few hours. Permanent side effects are rare, and may include chronic redness and swelling in the treated area, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, blistering and purpura (a laser bruise) in the treated area. Be sure to discuss any potential side effects with your provider.
