You see, skin rejuvenation (the process of making your skin become youthful again) has evolved a lot in the last few decades.  Researchers in the anti-aging field has found out how we can use our own body's ability to heal itself, to turn back the clock and reverse aging.

As our skin age, we first noticed the loss of  tissue moisture.  We treated this with topical moisturizers early on.  And that along with some sun block was all we need when we were younger.  Then as we get older, we have to deal with skin sagging and wrinkles as well. 

This is because the skin start losing it's collagen and elastin.  Without the elastin, gravity takes over and things start to sag.  Without collagen, we lose the volume underneath and the skin on top starts to wrinkle.

Researchers found out that when the skin gets damaged, as part of the local healing process, the skin recruits new fibroblast cells to fill in the damaged area, and the fibroblasts create new collagen and elastin, which plumps up the skin and reduced sagging!

Hence started the skin anti-aging revolution with facials featuring microderm abrasions and chemical peels. 

These were our early attempts at not only exfoliating the top skin layer of dead cells, but also to cause superficial skin damage to promote the formation of new skin.

Although the skin appearance is much better due to the surface exfoliation, the problem was the injury we induced with microderm abrasions and skin peels were too superficial, so we didn't get a lot of rejuvenation deeper in the skin to plump it back up to get it's youthful appearance.

Next came microneedling, then microchanneling, and RF microneedling. 

These were better than skin peels because we are now using small needles to go deeper into the skin and make thousands of holes, causing micro-damage that would induce formation of new fibroblasts and enhance production of collage and elastin.  Finally we can solve the problems of sagging and volume loss.

These methods did induce skin rejuvenation, but the problem now was the PAIN and bloody mess and the long down time people had.  We saw many clients do this once or twice, then never want to come back and do it again because of the PAIN.

Fast forward to today.  We can now use low heat lasers to cause quick pulses of energy deeper into the skin layer to induce the same type of tissue micro-damage that would induce skin healing and rejuvenation with new fibroblast formation and more elastin and collage placement into the skin. 

Only this time, instead of poking your face with ten thousand needle pricks, causing bleeding/bruising that takes 7-10 days to heal, we are using clean low-heat energy that will heal in 2-3 days.  The process is much less painful, less bloody, but the result is amazing!
