Smoker's lines, also known as Lipstick lines or Perioral lines, are vertical wrinkles that appear around the mouth, particularly on the upper lip. While often associated with smoking due to the repetitive lip pursing involved, they can also develop from other factors like aging, sun damage, and repeated facial expressions. These lines can make lips appear thinner and cause lipstick to bleed into the creases.

Smoker's lines can be treated by a number of ways:

• avoid pouting motions with the lips to prevent worsening wrinkles
• quit smoking will also help
• stimulate collagen to grow back under the skin with microneedling or lasers
• inject fillers to pad up under the wrinkles to make them less deep
• reducing the skin surface area above and below the lips so your skin can once again lie flat.  The non surgical way to do this is with Opus Plasma

We do 3 treatments about 2 weeks apart, so you can be done in 1 month.  Each treatment removes 10-20% skin surface area.  

How long does each treatment take?

This will vary based on your personalized treatment plan recommended by your provider. For a full face resurfacing procedure we typically schedule an hour - this allows time for the application of topical anesthetic with the actual treatment taking about 15 minutes.
