WHAT IS KYBELLA®?

Kybella® is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment that is used to penetrate and destroy fat cells in the area under the chin to improve your profile. Kybella® isn’t for everyone and must be prescribed by your provider. Kybella’s® active ingredient is synthetic deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally produced molecule in the human body that helps with breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.

HOW DOES KYBELLA® WORK?

Once Kybella® is injected into the fat beneath the chin and begins to destroy fat cells these cells can no longer store or rejuvenate new fat cells. Thus, further treatment is not typically needed once you reach your desired results with Kybella®. Kybella® is administered through numerous small injections and the procedure typically takes about 20-25 minutes. The number of injections varies from patient, the amount of fat you have under your chin and the results you desire.

ARE KYBELLA® INJECTIONS PAINFUL?

Patients who receive Kybella® injections may experience some pain to the treatment area. The use of ice to numb the treatment area is common to minimize any discomfort. If you are concerned about discomfort, a topical numbing cream may be used before administering Kybella®. Some patients may experience some redness, bruising, swelling, hardness, and/or numbness to the treated area post-procedure.
